It's Kinzinger v. Trump round 1 million.]]>
<![CDATA[

Former GOP Representative Adam Kinzinger, never one to miss a shot at Donald Trump, fired off a sarcastic jab on June 10 that lit up political X. 2e4346

“Watching the right now oppose the part of the Second Amendment that guarantees a well-regulated militia under state control is… something,” he posted, with all the dry derision of a man who’s had enough of conservative Constitutional cosplay.

It didn’t take long for people to connect the dots. Somewhere between campaign rallies and Truth Social rants, Trump decided the solution to immigration protests was to unleash the National Guard troops and U.S. Marines into the city, without California’s permission and very possibly without a legal leg to stand on.

A “blatant abuse of power” 3lz34

Kinzinger’s post is partially right, if an oversimplified reading of the Second Amendment. Still, the irony here is thick. Trump and his right-wing cheerleaders have spent years clutching their pearls over the Second Amendment. But the part about a “well-regulated militia” under state control? Suddenly, they’re not fans. Turns out, they’re all about gun rights… until the “militia” isn’t theirs to control.

California Governor Gavin Newsom isn’t amused, either. He accused Trump of federal overreach and promised a legal fight, calling the troop deployment a “blatant abuse of power.”

Meanwhile, the state’s attorney general quickly filed suit, arguing that the deployment trampled on California’s sovereignty and byed protocols that require state consent before federalizing the Guard.

Legal scholars chimed in to say what everyone else was already thinking: This looks a lot like authoritarian cosplay dressed up in patriot drag.

What Kinzinger is highlighting—none too subtly—is a long-standing contradiction in conservative politics. The right loves to scream about states’ rights when it suits them (usually when blocking federal action on guns or environmental regulation). But when a Democratic governor says “No thanks” to a MAGA military show of force, suddenly the Constitution is just a suggestion.

Kinzinger: You can’t have it both ways 6u4b7

The whole mess circles back to that ever-controversial Second Amendment. Conservatives have long championed the “right to bear arms,” but tend to gloss over the part about militias being “well-regulated” and under state authority.

Legal precedent—namely District of Columbia v. Heller—acknowledged an individual right to firearms, but didn’t erase the fact that the original text was written with organized, state-linked forces in mind.

In other words, the National Guard is exactly the sort of “militia” the founders were talking about. And when the president steamrolls a governor’s authority to deploy it, it’s not patriotic—it’s power-hungry.

Of course, none of this is new in the Trump-Kinzinger feud. Kinzinger’s been a vocal Trump critic since 2020, breaking ranks with his party to denounce the Big Lie, vote for impeachment, and serve on the January 6 Committee.

He didn’t run for reelection in 2022, but that hasn’t shut him up. Now a CNN political analyst, he’s using his platform to call out Trump’s constitutional hypocrisy—and he’s got plenty of material.

So here we are. Trump is flexing federal muscle in a blue state without consent. Conservatives are ignoring the part of the Second Amendment they don’t like. And Adam Kinzinger is on X with a digital smirk.

Once that power is unleashed, it’s difficult—if not impossible—to rein it back in.]]>
<![CDATA[

Former Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger has issued a dire warning amid swirling speculation that Donald Trump might invoke the centuries-old Insurrection Act.

The uproar began in Los Angeles when federal immigration authorities launched a series of high-profile raids across the city. These operations, targeting undocumented immigrants, were conducted in areas with significant Latino populations, including Paramount and the Fashion District. Over 100 individuals have reportedly been detained, and the raids have left communities reeling.

Things escalated when protests broke out in response to these actions, with tensions boiling over near a Home Depot south of Los Angeles. Federal agents in riot gear faced off against angry protesters, who hurled rocks, cement chunks, and other projectiles. In retaliation, the agents deployed tear gas, flash-bang grenades, and pepper balls, resulting in a chaotic scene of smoke, shouting, and scattered fires in the streets.

As the clashes intensified, California Governor Gavin Newsom stepped in, denouncing the federal government’s actions as “inflammatory” and accusing them of deliberately provoking unrest. Newsom, a Democrat, urged protesters to remain peaceful, warning that any escalation would only “play into the hands” of those seeking to sow division. But his calls for calm have done little to quell the unrest — or the speculation about Trump’s next move.

Signed into law in 1807, the Insurrection Act grants the president the authority to deploy military forces domestically in cases of rebellion, insurrection, or obstruction of federal law. But here’s the catch: it’s a tool of last resort, meant for moments when all other mechanisms of maintaining order have failed. Historically, it’s been invoked in extraordinary circumstances, such as enforcing desegregation in the South during the Civil Rights Movement or responding to the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

Using the Insurrection Act to suppress protests, however, would be a controversial move, especially in a case like this where local and state officials — including Governor Newsom—are actively opposing federal intervention. What’s really at stake here isn’t just the situation in Los Angeles — it’s the precedent this sets.

If Trump can invoke the Insurrection Act to quell protests in one city, what’s stopping him from doing the same elsewhere? And what does this mean for the future of American democracy? Are we really okay with the idea of a president using military force to suppress dissent? Because make no mistake: that’s what this is about. It’s not about “restoring order” or “enforcing the law.” It’s about control.

When French President Emmanuel Macron got shoved on camera, MAGA conspiracy theorists went full tinfoil]]>
<![CDATA[

The internet is many things — an endless scroll of dog videos, your aunt’s all-caps Facebook rants, and, occasionally, a bubbling cauldron of political absurdity. Case in point: A moment caught on camera showing French President Emmanuel Macron getting visibly (and possibly playfully) shoved in the face by none other than his wife, Brigitte Macron.

Macron laughed off the embarrassing moment, but not before it birthed one of the dumbest conspiracy theories of 2025: that Macron has been replaced by a body double.

“A few texture bugs” 4j2t3b

Yes, really. One post said, translated from French, “Emmanuel Macron is a doppelganger, let me explain. He has a human appearance but with a few texture bugs. He speaks random French but managed to get elected twice, and he doesn’t look at all like the original Emmanuel Macron of 2017.”

“A sloppy 2nd to the OG” 702w3m

This bizarre theory was enough to catch the attention of Adam Kinzinger, the former Republican congressman turned anti-MAGA crusader, who dunked on the madness in a tweet that perfectly captured the collective eye-roll of rational humans everywhere.

Kinzinger, one of the last sane Republicans standing, couldn’t help but weigh in. Quote-tweeting one of the more unhinged posts dissecting the alleged body double’s grooming routine, Kinzinger wrote: “So what kind of politics do you think someone who is claiming Macron has a body double subscribes to?” (Spoiler alert: It rhymes with “shmaga.”)

Brigitte’s shove becomes MAGA’s latest fantasy 1f6v5h

Let’s rewind. During what looked like a casual public appearance, cameras captured Brigitte reaching out and — with what can only be described as married-couple energy — giving her husband a quick shove in the face. Was she annoyed, joking, or was she trying to remove a stray eyelash? Who knows.

What we do know is that in MAGA circles, the moment instantly morphed into something much darker. Suddenly, X was flooded with posts analyzing Macron’s face like it was the Zapruder film. Musk’s platform was already filled with conspiracies that Brigitte was born a man, or even possibly Macron’s uncle or father.

The fact that the “shove” came from his wife? Ignored. Because if there’s one thing conspiracy theorists are great at, it’s missing the point entirely.

Kinzinger brings the fire and sarcasm 5r5yx

Kinzinger’s tweet was more than just a well-placed jab. It was a reminder of just how far down the rabbit hole some political factions have gone — a place where every blurry video is proof of a globalist coup and every wife’s face shove is a cover-up for a state-sanctioned doppelgänger swap. And if your takeaway from a wife goofing around with her husband is that the Illuminati is involved? Maybe log off. Seriously.

Don't tease us like that, Kinzinger. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger didn’t mince words Thursday morning as he torched Donald Trump over his latest flurry of tariff threats, accusing the ex-president of “stock market manipulation” and hurling a series of sharply worded barbs—including labeling Trump an “ignorant fat toddler” and “sloppy goon.”

In two scathing posts on X on May 23, 2025, Kinzinger took direct aim at Trump‘s Truth Social rants, threatening a massive 50% tariff on European Union vehicles and proposing tariffs on Apple if the tech giant doesn’t shift iPhone manufacturing to the U.S.

“Break the law today… you will be held able eventually” 5v86n

Kinzinger’s first post, viewed over 54,000 times in just a few hours, framed Trump’s tariff musings not as misguided policy proposals, but as intentional attempts to sway markets:

“At this point Trump’s tariff threats are just stock market manipulation. Nobody will prosecute him. Just FYI: break the law today you better hope statute of limitations runs out… you will be held able eventually,” Kinzinger wrote.

This isn’t the first time Trump’s bombastic tariff threats have driven media attention and shaken economic markets. But Kinzinger, who has emerged as one of the loudest anti-Trump Republicans since leaving office, is turning up the heat by suggesting legal consequences are overdue, even if delayed by the slow churn of justice.

Apple, iPhones, and toddler tantrums 2j573

The former congressman didn’t stop there. In a second X post just before 6 a.m. (which he later edited), Kinzinger unleashed a tirade over Trump’s suggestion that Apple should face punitive tariffs unless it moves iPhone production stateside: “NOBODY WANTS APPLE BUILDING IPHONES HERE YOU IGNORANT FAT TODDLER. Good God you exhausting sloppy goon.”

The insult-laden tweet, which racked up over 181,000 views in just a few hours, appears to be a direct reaction to Trump’s Truth Social post where he demanded Apple “start building all iPhones in the USA or face big tariffs.” Critics argue such a move would not only be economically infeasible but would also cause a ripple effect across global supply chains, likely driving up prices and sparking international backlash.

What Trump actually Said: 50% EU tariffs and an Apple ultimatum 4p3k5j

On his Truth Social , Trump recently proposed a sweeping 50% tariff on cars imported from the European Union, claiming it would “level the playing field” for American automakers. Simultaneously, he targeted Apple, accusing the company of being “unpatriotic” for maintaining overseas manufacturing and floated the idea of “significant tariffs” if they fail to comply.

Economists and political analysts alike were quick to point out the market implications. Mere mention of such drastic measures caused volatility in tech and auto stocks on early trading reports—hence Kinzinger’s claim of market manipulation.

Trump’s critics argue his statements are not rooted in real policy-making but are attempts to manipulate investor sentiment and energize his populist base. Kinzinger’s use of the phrase “stock market manipulation” taps into broader fears that Trump’s rhetoric often skirts legal and ethical boundaries, with little to no consequence, so far.

The phrase “You will be held able eventually” carries a not-so-veiled warning: just because Trump has evaded legal ability to date doesn’t mean the clock won’t eventually catch up to him.

As Trump continues to escalate his trade war rhetoric and dangle economic chaos as campaign theater, expect voices like Kinzinger’s to grow louder—and more pointed. If there’s one takeaway from today’s digital blitz, don’t expect this war of words (or tariffs) to cool off any time soon.

The lone wolf howls again. ]]>
<![CDATA[

“Big Beautiful Bill,” Donald Trump’s latest brainchild, which, according to MAGA loyalists, is a glorious tax-cut extravaganza that will apparently bless America with prosperity. Except—it won’t. And Adam Kinzinger, the outspoken Republican with a knack for ruffling GOP feathers, isn’t buying the spin.

In fact, Kinzinger might be the only adult left in a room full of Republican toddlers playing with economic matches next to a mountain of debt. The former congressman took to X to call out the nonsense, bluntly stating that the bill offers “no new tax cuts” whatsoever.

Kinzinger has made a career out of being the black sheep of the GOP—or maybe the red sheep, given his party affiliation. He’s no stranger to calling out his own side when the rhetoric veers into absurdity, and this time is no different. Kinzinger’s candor has made him more enemies than friends within the Republican Party. He’s been labeled a RINO (Republican In Name Only), a traitor, and worse by Trump’s loyalists. And yet, he persists, pointing out the inconvenient truth that tax cuts don’t magically solve all problems—especially when you’re staring down the barrel of $36 trillion in national debt.

So, what’s in this so-called Big Beautiful Bill? Spoiler alert: not much that’s beautiful, and definitely nothing big. According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO)—you know, the folks who actually crunch the numbers instead of just tweeting slogans—this legislation would add a staggering $3.8 trillion to the national debt. That’s on top of the already jaw-dropping $36 trillion we’re currently sitting on. If that doesn’t make you break into a cold sweat, you might want to check your pulse.

High levels of debt don’t just exist in some abstract realm of spreadsheets and economic forecasts; they have real-world consequences. For starters, the higher the debt, the more the government has to pay in interest. And where does that money come from? Spoiler alert: not from Trump’s personal bank . It comes from taxpayers. Every dollar spent on interest is a dollar that doesn’t go toward things like education, infrastructure, or healthcare. In other words, the more we borrow, the less we can invest in things that actually make life better for everyday Americans.

As the government racks up more debt, investors demand higher returns to offset the risk. That means higher Treasury rates, which in turn drive up the cost of mortgages, car loans, and just about every other form of credit. So, if you’re dreaming of owning a home someday, you might want to think twice before cheering on policies that push interest rates even higher.

Of course, none of this is new. The MAGA movement has always excelled at repackaging bad ideas as revolutionary solutions. Tax cuts for the wealthy? Framed as economic liberation. Rolling back environmental protections? Sold as freedom from government overreach. And now, a debt-ballooning bill with no actual tax cuts is being marketed as a financial win for the American people.

<![CDATA[

It’s not every day you see a Republican calling out another Republican for a faceplant so grand it should be in the Guinness World Records.

Adam Kinzinger, ever the maverick of the GOP, did not hold back when Donald Trump decided to pat himself on the back for cleaning up a disaster he himself created. Kinzinger, who has been one of the few Republicans with the guts (and, honestly, the patience) to call Trump out on his nonsense, took to X (formerly Twitter) to deliver a snarky reality check:

Now, that is the kind of energy we love to see.

Kinzinger, for better or worse, has become the guy in the GOP who’s not afraid to point out when the emperor is parading around without clothes—or, in Trump’s case, without a shred of coherent policy. He’s been outspoken, and not just in a “let me write a strongly worded letter” kind of way. Kinzinger has called out his own party’s hypocrisy, stood up against Trump’s election lies, and, in general, refused to drink the MAGA Kool-Aid.

Trump’s latest “deal” with China—a 90-day pause on the tariffs he so gleefully imposed—has everyone scratching their heads. when he slapped those tariffs on Chinese imports, claiming it was all part of his genius plan to stick it to Beijing? Well, those tariffs quickly escalated into a full-blown trade war, with the U.S. and China playing a game of “who can out-stupid the other” by imposing higher and higher duties on each other’s goods.

At its peak, Trump’s tariffs on Chinese imports hit a mind-boggling 145%. China, of course, wasn’t going to take this lying down. They fired back with their own tariffs, hitting U.S. farmers and manufacturers where it hurt. And now? Trump is dialing the tariffs back to 30%, and China is doing the same, dropping theirs to 10%. It’s a temporary truce, a 90-day pause, and the stock market is, predictably, thrilled. The Dow Jones surged, the S&P 500 climbed, and the Nasdaq shot up like someone handed it a double espresso. But let’s not get carried away. This isn’t a “win.” It’s damage control. Trump hasn’t solved the problem; he’s just stopped making it worse for a little while. And yet, the man is acting like he just negotiated world peace. Cue the eye roll.

Kinzinger’s jab—calling this a “capitulation”—hits the nail on the head. Trump didn’t outsmart China or pull off some grand strategy. He started a fire, let it burn out of control, and then threw a bucket of water on it while yelling, “You’re welcome!” And the worst part? The underlying issues in the U.S.-China trade relationship remain unresolved. Intellectual property theft, forced technology transfers, and Beijing’s state-subsidized industries—all the things Trump claimed he was going to fix—are still very much a problem.

America was not ready for this distorted honesty today.]]>
<![CDATA[

President Donald Trump’s inability to string together two words to make sense has in turn gifted America the necessary superpower to understand what the president really means behind the garbled sentences, grammatical errors, or fake boasts that are saying something else entirely. Which is the case this time as the POTUS has opened up his 100 days as the president for the second.

There is a lot Trump has accomplished in the 100 days of his istration this time – tanking the economy, violating federal laws and constitutional provisions, alienating key allies, targeting diversity, and a long list of chaos. So, naturally, Trump got all emotional while answering how his first term as president differs from his second during his interview with The Atlantic.

“The first time, I had two things to do — run the country and survive; I had all these crooked guys. And the second time, I run the country and the world.”

Ahmm, you see, this grandiose declaration managed to elicit the only possible reaction from the anti-MAGA Republican Adam Kinzinger.

While Kinzinger is probably still cracking up over Trump’s words, the politician’s justified mirth has kicked off a string of comments diagnosing what is really wrong with the POTUS.

But Kinzinger and many others are forgetting is Trump’s long history of public misspellings. when he brought college football champions “hamberders” or oh, his Freudian slip where he said America needs to “heel” during the Charlottesville violence – people think he meant to say “heal,” but given the kind of leadership styles he openly ires (Vladimir Putin’s for starters), a number of critics didn’t find it far-fetched to believe that he meant what he said and that he wants America to bow down, obey authority, and stop resisting.

So, maybe, when Trump said “I run the country and the world,” all the laughable proclamation lacked was an “i” as in “ruin” not “run.” Makes complete sense, doesn’t it?

Canada, Mexico, and a number of other countries are no longer America’s strongest allies. We have kickstarted a trade war with China which we are not destined to win (that’s why Trump keeps going back on forth on his formerly solid decisions on the tariffs), polls indicate that a majority of Americans believe the economy has worsened under Trump’s leadership, conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza see no peace negotiations as the world laughs at the president for following Russia’s whims, legally questionable mass deportations, and the all over devolving quality of America’s progress. Isn’t that how you “ruin” a country?

The White House is pushing its luck and the axe doesn’t miss twice.]]>
<![CDATA[

Looks like the Trump istration thinks it can play God while simultaneously picking fights with major media outlets. Former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger — who’s moonlighting as the istration’s prophet of doom these days — didn’t mince words when he declared on X: “This is going to end really badly for the White House.”

Once a staunch conservative darling, he’s now better known for his blunt critiques of the Trumpian mess that’s hijacked his party. Kinzinger’s not pulling any punches here, warning that the White House’s handling of this latest immigration circus is a ticking time bomb.

It all started when The New York Times ran a story about Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a 29-year-old man deported from Maryland to El Salvador under what a federal court deemed “an istrative error.” The story, headlined “Senator Meets With Wrongly Deported Maryland Man In El Salvador,” focused on Senator Chris Van Hollen’s efforts to meet Garcia and bring attention to what he called a gross miscarriage of justice. Seems straightforward. Someone was deported in error, and a senator stepped in to try to fix it.

The White House’s official Twitter (or “X” if you’re one of those people who actually calls it that) decided to clap back in the most juvenile way possible. They scribbled over the New York Times headline like a high schooler correcting a rival’s prom poster, replacing “wrongly deported Maryland man” with their preferred label: “deported MS-13 illegal alien.” Oh, and they made sure to underline the “illegal alien” part, just in case their message wasn’t clear enough. Subtlety, thy name is not Trump. The White House also added a snarky caption for good measure: “Oh, and by the way, @ChrisVanHollen—he’s NOT coming back.”

On paper, his story is the kind of thing that should make any reasonable person pause. He lived in Maryland with his family before being deported to one of El Salvador’s most notorious prisons, the so-called “Terrorism Confinement Center” (CECOT). This is a facility known less for its rehabilitation efforts and more for its overcrowding, harsh conditions, and allegations of human rights abuses. Garcia’s deportation was ruled an “istrative error” by a federal court, which basically means the government itted it messed up. But instead of fixing the mistake, the Trump istration doubled down, claiming that Garcia is a member of the MS-13 gang—a claim that has yet to be substantiated with any solid evidence.

Let’s pause here for a second. Even if Garcia were a gang member (a big “if”), does that justify skipping due process? Courts, including the Supreme Court, have ordered his return to the U.S. for proper deportation proceedings. That’s not some radical leftist agenda—that’s just the law. But the White House isn’t interested in following the rules when they can score political points by demonizing immigrants.

Kinzinger might be the Cassandra of this situation, but at least he’s calling it like he sees it. And honestly, it’s hard not to agree with him. The White House can keep juggling knives all it wants, but eventually, gravity catches up with everyone. The only question is how much damage will be done when the knives finally hit the ground. And knowing this istration, it’s going to be one hell of a mess.

If only there were a term for that... oh right, authoritarianism.]]>
<![CDATA[

Donald Trump is throwing a tantrum over CBS’s refusal to fluff his ego. He has demanded CBS lose its broadcasting license for the unforgivable crime of… journalism. The horror!

And while Trump spent his Sunday evening rage-posting on Truth Social, accusing CBS of “fraudulent reporting,” former GOP congressman Adam Kinzinger took to X (formerly Twitter) to deliver the kind of verbal smackdown that leaves a mark.

If there’s a hall of fame for one-liners that perfectly encapsulate the sheer absurdity of Trump’s ego, Kinzinger just earned himself a lifetime hip.

While Trump continues his scorched-earth campaign against anyone who refuses to bow down to him, Kinzinger has emerged as one of the few Republicans willing to call out the president’s antics for what they are: a never-ending pity party disguised as populism. Kinzinger, once a rising star in the Republican Party, spent much of his career representing Illinois’ 16th Congressional District, a largely conservative area. But unlike most of his GOP colleagues, Kinzinger broke ranks after January 6, 2021, when Trump’s rhetoric culminated in a violent insurrection at the Capitol.

Kinzinger’s decision to the January 6th Committee and publicly condemn Trump’s role in the attack earned him the ire of the MAGA faithful. But instead of retreating into political obscurity, he’s doubled down, using his platform to call out Trump’s authoritarian tendencies and the GOP’s cult-like loyalty to him.

It all started with the Sunday evening episode of 60 Minutes, which featured a segment on the Russia-Ukraine war and another on Trump’s bizarre obsession with annexing Greenland. The program also included an interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who criticized the U.S.’s shifting tone toward Russia under Trump’s leadership and invited Trump to visit Ukraine to witness the devastation firsthand. Trump did what he does best: deflect, distort, and distract. He accused CBS of “deceitful editing” during a 2024 interview with Kamala Harris, claimed the network is part of a grand conspiracy to undermine him, and even brought up his $20 billion lawsuit against CBS—a lawsuit that, much like his election fraud claims, seems more rooted in fantasy than fact.

Trump’s demands for CBS to lose its broadcasting license are as laughable as they are dangerous. For one, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) doesn’t license networks like CBS—it licenses individual stations. And even if it could revoke a network’s license, the idea that unfavorable coverage constitutes a legal violation is ludicrous. News organizations have a First Amendment right to report on public figures, even if that reporting makes those public figures uncomfortable.

Our fragile experiment in self-governance depends on a free press, even (especially) when that press covers topics unflattering to those in power. And honestly, if Trump can’t handle 60 Minutes, how exactly was he planning to handle Putin for another four years? Just food for thought.

Kinzinger denounced the VP's recent comments about "Chinese peasants." ]]>
<![CDATA[

Another day, another helpful reminder from Adam Kinzinger, this time courtesy of his response to vice president JD Vance’s recent comments about China.

In case you missed it, Vance appeared on Fox News last week to defend president Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs on China, arguing that without them, the current economic dealings with the country are “not a recipe for economic prosperity.” To make his point, Vance argued that without tariffs, the U.S. “[incurs] a huge amount of debt to buy things that other countries make for us,” before launching into a questionable analogy involving the term “Chinese peasants.”

“To make it a little more crystal clear, we borrow money from Chinese peasants to buy the things those Chinese peasants manufacture,” Vance said. Since he hasn’t let up in his quest to hold the istration to , Kinzinger took to social media to condemn Vance’s comments, saying they were the result of an inexperienced politician who makes “so many errors.” Kinzinger re-shared the clip of Vance and wrote: “ [Vance] is what happens when you put a 39 year old with no government experience in office.”

Vance’s lack of experience was a major talking point when he was named as Trump’s running mate last year, since he was only part-way through his six-year Senate term and had never managed a federal agency or Cabinet office. Vance’s inexperience isn’t the only source of aggravation for Kinzinger, who has criticized the vice president on everything from his response to the assassination attempt on Trump back in September, to his involvement in the White House verbal spat with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to his more recent trip to Greenland in service of Trump’s annexation plans.

Making matters worse, Vance received swift rebuke for his “peasant” comments by China itself, with Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry, telling media outlets that “it’s both astonishing and lamentable to hear this vice-president make such ignorant and disrespectful remarks.” Even before Vance’s regrettable comments, the topic of tariffs had caught the ire of Beijing, particularly in the wake of Trump’s announcement of tariffs on China last month.

“If war is what the U.S. wants, be it a tariff war, a trade war, or any other type of war, we’re ready to fight till the end,” the official of the Chinese Embassy in the United States wrote on X. While Vance is the target now, Kinzinger’s criticisms of the Trump istration have been consistent and wide-ranging ever since Inauguration Day. The politician has taken aim at everything from Trump’s response to the Potomac mid-air collision, to his economic agenda, and his stance on the Russia-Ukraine war

So sweeping is Kinzinger’s distaste for Trump that, last week, he published a lengthy (and scathing) Substack essay explaining the “legacy of broken promises” that will be left by the istration. Part of Kinzinger’s months-long takedown has included criticisms of the Democrats, whom he has denounced on multiple occasions for their lack of action in response to Trump’s increasingly brazen political manoeuvres.

His blunt assessment cuts through the economic jargon to a simple truth.]]>
<![CDATA[

when “winning” was supposed to be so easy we’d get tired of it? Well, America’s checking begs to differ.

Former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger thinks now isn’t the time for political niceties, labeling our current economic spiral with a devastatingly simple two-word diagnosis: “Trump recession.”

Since Trump reclaimed the Oval Office, Kinzinger has transformed from Republican colleague to perpetual thorn in the former president’s side. The Illinois congressman, who broke ranks with his party after the January 6th Capitol attack, has embraced his role as the conservative voice of dissent against all things MAGA. While his former Republican colleagues twist themselves into policy pretzels defending Trump’s economic whims, Kinzinger has consistently called out what he sees as dangerous populist economics masquerading as patriotism.

His “Trump recession” comment came in response to a post highlighting JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon’s warning that we’re barreling toward credit problems “people haven’t seen in a long time” – financial speak for “brace yourselves.” The original post didn’t mince words either, describing the situation as a “complete mess that was totally unavoidable” before christening it with the hashtag “TRUMPCRASH.”

The immediate trigger for this financial anxiety attack? Trump’s self-described “reciprocal” tariffs – “massive import taxes on basically everyone.” These tariffs, the largest America has imposed in a century, slapped duties as high as 50% on dozens of nations. China, getting special treatment as America’s favorite economic rival, now faces a staggering 104% tariff when you add these new charges to existing ones.

Global markets responded about as well as you’d expect. Japan’s benchmark index nose-dived 3.9%, European stocks shed roughly 4%. Last week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped an eye-watering 2,231.07 points (5.5%) in a single day – the worst decline since the pandemic had us all hoarding toilet paper and learning to bake sourdough. That followed a 1,679-point decline, marking the first time in history the Dow has shed more than 1,500 points on consecutive days. Bond markets aren’t faring any better, with the 10-year Treasury yield climbing to nearly 4.5% – that translates into higher interest rates on everything from mortgages to car loans for everyday Americans.

Kinzinger’s criticism runs deeper than just market movements. Last week, he predicted these tariffs marked “the beginning of the end” for the MAGA movement, boldly labeling Trump the “greatest destroyer of wealth.” The former congressman’s assessment seems increasingly prophetic as markets continue their downward journey. The question now is whether America’s economic rationality will return before our collective solvency runs out. Kinzinger, at least, isn’t waiting to call this economic experiment exactly what it appears to be – a recession with Trump’s name written all over it.
